Wish They Could All Just Run Away

(I work at a chain office supply store. We offer printing services. When you print, we put a $5.00 hold on your account, and we return the money that day, usually. However, with it being Thanksgiving, some banks have waited to put it back.)

Female Customer: “I need you to help me right now! YOU OVERCHARGED ME AT THE COPY CENTER!”

Me: “Okay. We can take a look at that. Tell me what happened.”

Customer: “I only did $0.72 worth of copying, and you charged me $5.72!”

Me: “I can explain why, if you’ll just—”

Customer: “I DON’T HAVE TIME FOR THIS; I HAVE TO BE AT WORK NOW!”

(The customer starts to storm off. I’m unsure what she means and I’m just trying to help. My manager sees all this and tries to stop the woman, asking her what’s wrong.)

Customer: *on the verge of tears* “No, f*** you! I DON’T HAVE TIME! I HAVE TO GO TO WORK! I’M LATE! I’M LATE! IT’S ALL YOUR FAULT!”

(She runs out of the store, crying.)

Me: *to coworker* “I guess I can’t really help if you run off, now, can I?”
