Customer: “Our table would like to try the tasting menu. I’m a local influencer and I wanted to discuss discount options in return for sharing with my followers.”
Me: “Uh… what kind of discount?”
Customer: “We eat for free, and I tell my five thousand followers how awesome it is!”
I go and tell my manager, who laughs and comes over to talk to them.
Manager: “So let me get this straight. You want a $125 tasting menu for free, for four people, and in return, you’ll give a shout-out to five thousand followers?”
Customer: *Cheerfully.* “That’s right!”
My manager gets his phone out and starts recording.
Manager: “Can you say that again but on camera? My sixty-five-thousand followers can do with a good laugh.”
They left pretty quickly after that.
