Why We Need Biology Lessons At School
I’m working at the pharmacy at a large grocery store. The customer I am serving grabs some tampons since we stock some near the counter.
Customer: “Oh, and these, too, please!”
The customer behind her, an older man, feels the need to speak up about this.
Next Customer: “So many women are promiscuous now. So sad. You wouldn’t need to buy those if you’d kept your virginity.”
Customer: “Okay… Wow. First of all, I do not have to talk to you and give you any of my attention, but this is so wild that I have to clarify. Are you saying women who haven’t had sex don’t get periods?”
Next Customer: “Yes! You only start bleeding out of them because you broke your seal!”
Customer: “We’re women, not peanut butter jars!”
Next Customer: “I don’t understand why it’s so important for you, anyway. It’s not like any of you enjoy sex.”
Customer: “Please, just stop and let me line up in peace.”
Next Customer: “Women having orgasms is a myth! Only male orgasms do anything, so a female having an orgasm is pointless.”
Me: “That’s a convoluted way to say you’ve never sexually satisfied a woman.”
I said it before I realized. My current customer let out a laugh, and the older man grumbled and stormed off. The woman said she would hang around in case he went to get a manager. It’s a good thing she did because that’s exactly what happened, but my customer explained that he was harassing her and I was coming to her defense.
