When The Caller Predates Telephones
I work in a call center, and this takes place at the end of a call.
Me: “I have a question for you, ma’am. It seems we have the wrong date of birth in the system. Could we have your date of birth, please? The system now thinks you are born on the first of March, 1800.”
Caller: “Oh dear, that’s not my date of birth at all! Perhaps it’s my late husband’s date of birth.”
Me: “Oh, I think this is an issue at our end. The system now thinks you are 224 years old, and you sound a lot younger.”
Caller: “Oh, no! Then it’s definitely my husband’s date of birth!”
She then gave me her birth date. Because of the rest of the conversation, with me having to repeat things, my guess is she was just hard of hearing.
