What Do I Care How Much It May Storm? I’ve Got My Rage To Keep Me Warm!
I used to work for a tech company. If you have ever worked for one, you know how dramatic the customers can be.
This was years ago when there was a pretty powerful hurricane in North Carolina. The first call of the day was a woman who sounded frantic.
Caller: “Help! My Internet is out!”
After my company-mandated call opening, we started troubleshooting. Still not back online.
Then, I started asking some questions, and she told me her house was in the hurricane zone and she had no power.
I rolled my eyes and then put her on hold to take a deep breath.
Then, I took the customer off hold and explained in the nicest way possible that you need POWER to have INTERNET. I wished her luck during the hurricane and told her that as soon as she was safe and had power, she could give us a call, and we would do our best to get her back online.
She insisted that I was being rude and unhelpful and asked to speak to my manager.
