We’re Suddenly Glassy-Eyed By This Conversation
One of our older colleagues has a glass eye, which he’s happy to remove as some kind of party trick.
We have a new hire who hears about this as part of regular office talk.
New Hire: “Wait, glass eyes are real?”
Me: “Yes! Not common, but they do exist!” *Calling over colleague.* “Isn’t that right, [Colleague]?”
Colleague: “That’s right! They tried giving me some acrylic ones before, but they keep drying out, so I stick to my old glass ones.”
New Hire: “You seriously have a glass eye?”
Colleague: “Yes!” *Points to it.* “This is the glass one.”
New Hire: “What’s it made of?”
Colleague: “Uh… well… glass.”
New Hire: “Oh yeah, it must be, or you couldn’t see through it.”
