Well, That Stuff Can Be Addictive…
(I am known for being adventurous with my cooking, while my mother-in-law is very conservative. We are at her house for lunch; I have celiac disease.)
Me: “So, what can I eat here?”
Mother-In-Law: “Everything except for the breaded chicken, because it has soy sauce in it.”
(Many commercial soy sauces are thickened with wheat flour.)
Me: “Which soy sauce? I can’t eat most of them but some of them are okay.”
Mother-In-Law: “It was some name… I can’t remember… I think, cocaine?”
(Everybody bursts out laughing.)
Me: “And I thought I was the one who experimented in the kitchen!”
(For the record, she meant Kikkoman.)
