We’ll Have To Agree To Agree

I am chatting with my manager near the self-checkout section when a customer comes up to complain.

Customer: “You need to take down these signs!”

Manager: “What signs, ma’am?”

Customer: “The signs that say these machines only take cards!”

She points to the offending signs that can be seen at the entrance to the section, as well as above each machine, on each machine, beside each machine, and on the screen of each machine.

Manager: “Those signs are there to help our customers, ma’am.”

Customer: “Yeah, but I always forget and bring cash! The signs make me look like an idiot!”

There is a cold silence for a moment as my manager and I process what was just said.

Manager: *To me* “Do I… do I agree with her?”
