We’ll Happily Give You Back The Money You Paid For It
A customer wants to return something without a receipt and is making a huge deal out of it by screaming. My manager has to come out of his meeting to calm the customer down. I have just gotten back from lunch. I hear what is going on and get involved.
Customer: *Seeing me* “You! You sold me [item]! I want a refund, now!”
Me: “Sir, a week ago, I gave you [item] for free.”
Customer: “And here I am returning it!”
Me: “Do you have your receipt?”
Customer: “Of course not!”
Of course he doesn’t. If he did, it would prove that he got the item for free.
Me: “Then I can’t give you a refund, sir.”
Customer: “So not having the receipt is my fault?”
Me: “Well… yes!”
After shouting at my manager, the customer walked away, upset.
