We Should Not Be Meeting, As I Have A Meeting
I woke up late one morning. Though I work from home, I would not have had time to make breakfast before I was supposed to log on, so I ordered delivery, selected contactless delivery, and added the note, “Please leave the food on the glass table on the porch.” I also uploaded a photo of the front of my house with the table in view.
I was in my first meeting when someone started pounding on my door. I ignored it, thinking the delivery driver was making sure I knew the food was there. A few seconds passed before more pounding. I excused myself from the meeting to go downstairs, the pounding continuing nonstop. I answered the door while the driver was still beating on it, and he almost hit me in the face.
Me: “What?!”
Driver: “Finally! If you’re gonna order food, be ready to collect it! I got other s*** to do!”
Me: “I ordered no-contact delivery. I’m working.”
Driver: “Me too.” *He walks away.* “Don’t forget your food!”
I looked at the glass table and saw he had placed the food under one of the chairs beside it. I originally tipped 25% for this order because it was a twenty-minute drive and I appreciated having it brought to me. After his behavior, I reduced it to 5% and contacted customer service. I was credited $2 for the inconvenience and given a generic apology and a promise that the driver would be notified of the report.
