Einstein Didn’t Use Alternative Facts

| Learning | July 6, 2017

(I am fluent in Spanish and German. A particular student has nasty habit of loudly declaring “facts” about topics she knows nothing about. They have been talking about last names when she utters this little pearl.)

Obnoxious Student: *declares snootily* “It’s German. Germans don’t pronounce the first vowel. Like I-stien (Einstein)!”

(Yes, she really did emphasis the “I”. No, I didn’t have the energy to argue with her over the proper pronunciation of one of the most famous German scientists, let alone actual constructs of the language.)
