Water You Talking About?
I go to a rather well-known chain for some fast food. I run through the drive-thru and order a combo.
Employee: “What would you like to drink with that?”
Me: “Water, please.”
Suddenly, the screen up-charges $1. I’ve never been up-charged for water; it’s a combo. A drink is included.
Me: “Hey, uh, why am I being charged another dollar?”
Employee: “We up-charge bottled water.”
Me: “Can I get water in a cup? I usually do without charge; I normally get asked if I want bottled or have it in a cup.”
Employee: “We’ve never done that.”
Me: “Yes, you have. You did it last week. Why am I getting up-charged for water when a drink is included in a combo?”
Employee: “We don’t serve water in a cup.”
Me: “Yes, you do.”
Employee: “Our soda machine is automated; if I don’t put in soda it won’t fill up a cup.”
I know that’s a lie.
Me: “You can’t fill a cup with water?”
Employee: “The machine won’t.”
It got to the point where I just got soda instead because it was CHEAPER. All the times I’ve gone back since, I’ve never been up-charged for water, and I got it in a CUP. I also never saw the employee working there ever again.
