Wasn’t Expecting The Nutty Plot Twist
I’m in a diner, alone at a booth, browsing on my phone. I’m recording my face to do a reaction shot for my Instagram story when I overhear the two diners in the booth next to me, and feel compelled to keep recording so as to record their conversation.
Diner #1: “I only have ten dollars in my wallet.”
Diner #2: “Huh? But you ordered all that food! You told me you were paying?!”
Diner #1: “Don’t worry, I have a trick for this kind of thing. I got some peanuts in a baggie. All I gotta do is fold some into the uneaten food and claim we’re allergic to peanuts and they’ll give us the food for free!”
The diners actually go through with this crazy plan. [Diner #1] had obviously been planning this as she had a small Ziploc of peanuts in her bag, ready to go. She suddenly feigns shock, calls for a manager, and starts laying into him about how “they could have been killed!”
I let it get a bit farther along for dramatic effect, and then I lean over with a smile:
Me: *To the manager.* “Excuse me, sir, before you do anything else, I think you might want to listen to this:”
I play their audio back (the video is of my face eye-rolling), the manager looks angry, while the other diners go very pale.
Diner #1: “That’s a fake! She made that up!”
Manager: “Ladies, I think you need to figure out how you’re paying for your meal, and quickly.”
Diner #2: *To [Diner #1].* “You stupid b****! Why did you order $100 of food?!”
[Diner #2] had to cough up a credit card that her mom gave to her for emergencies only, and I got a free peach cobbler and ice cream for being in the right place at the right time.
