Wage Against The Machine, Part 2
My manager catches me yawning about half an hour into my shift.
Manager: “You always come into work tired. Customers pick up on the lack of energy, you know. Your work attitude does not match work expectations.”
Me: “Yes, but it is matching work wages.”
Manager: “Your wage was known when you applied. It shouldn’t be a surprise or excuse for a bad work ethic.”
Me: “But it is a cause for me to have to work two jobs to make rent AND be able to afford food. I just came in from that other job, by the way, so that’s why I’m so tired. My second job was known to you when I told you I can’t survive on part-time minimum wage. It shouldn’t be a surprise or excuse for bad management.”
