A Tip-Off To Bad Service

| Working | August 29, 2013

(My fiancé and I are meeting some friends at a restaurant. After about 10 minutes, a waitress comes up.)

Waitress: “Hi, can I get you anything to drink?”

Fiancé: “I’ll have an orange juice.”

Me: “I’d like a—”

(The waitress suddenly walks off while I am mid-sentence. She brings my fiancé’s drink, and I try and order again, but she walks away again. The friends we are meeting sit down, and we have a look at the menu.)

Me: “Hey guys. It’s really weird, but the waitress has been completely ignoring me the entire time!”

(The waitress comes back to take our order. She inevitably gets to me.)

Waitress: “And for you?”

Me: *firmly* “I’ll have some orange juice and the breakfast special, and may I please have some maple syrup on the side?”

Waitress: *annoyed* “Yes.”

(She doesn’t see a single tip from us.)
