Very Loud Hypocrisy

(My brothers spend most of their time hanging out in the basement, including late at night. I hardly ever hear them, but my parents say they make too much noise. The following wakes me up around two am:)

Stepfather: *slams bedroom door*

Stepfather: *stomp stomp stomp*

Stepfather: *loudly basement door opens*

(I DON’T hear any noise from my brothers, nor do I hear anyone go downstairs. This means my stepfather is standing at the top of the stairs, about 20 feet from me and easily 50 feet from the guys.)

Stepfather: “HEY! DO Y’ALL HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT TIME IT IS?! KEEP IT DOWN! PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO SLEEP!”

Stepfather: *slam stomp stomp stomp slam*

(And my mom wonders why I say parents are hypocrites.)
