Valentine’s Blasé
(We are a same-sex couple. Neither I nor my partner celebrates romantic holidays. On the way home from work on Valentine’s Day, I stop and buy a small box of the candy hearts that we used to get as kids. I toss them to him when I come in the house.)
Me: “Happy Valentine’s Day.”
Partner: “So, you decided to celebrate and mock the occasion at the same time?”
Me: “Yep.”
Partner: “And that’s why I love you.”
