Uplifted By A Prayer

(We are in the home room of a Catholic high school; this is where we do morning announcements as well as prayers. Our teacher is on exchange from Canada and is very quirky.)

Teacher: “Okay, so, let’s begin the morning prayer.”

Student: “Oh, my God, [Teacher], we do this every morning. It’s so pointless.”

Teacher: *keeps saying the morning prayer, ignoring the student*

Student: “This is so stupid. No one is listening. Just stop!”

Teacher: *pauses for a moment, eyeing the student and sighs a little* “Hey, [Student]?”

Student: “What!”

Teacher: “Up yours.”

(The whole class including the obnoxious student were stunned into silence. The teacher continued saying the prayer.)
