(The day is September 11, 2001, and it is about 20 minutes before the first reports of a plane hitting World Trade Center 1.)
Customer: Can you hurry up what is taking so d*** long to make my coffees?
Me: I’m sorry sir, usually we have a large staff to take big orders but today most of the staff are out.
Customer: (irritated) Well how is this my fault? You should be ready to take any order that I give you! I have a big meeting at 9:00 at the World Trade Center! That makes me important and I should be the top priority!
(I ignore him and continue making his drinks)
Me: Here you go sir, your order of (10 various different coffees) ready to go, your total is ****.
Customer: About f****** time!
(He rushes out and then 10 minutes later the news stations are talking about that first plane. The whole ordeal of 9/11 happens and then about a week later the same customer comes in with presumably his wife and daughter.)
Me: Hello sir what is your order today?
Customer: Yeah I’m not actually ordering anything, I just wanted to thank you.
Me: For what sir?
Customer: I’m the jerk from last week yelling about his important meeting in Tower 1. The time it took for you make my coffee made me just late enough that I was walking up to the building when the plane hit it.
Me: (I am tearing up at this point) Oh my god!
Customer: But that’s not important, you saved me from that horrible attack and I am still here for my wife and daughter.
Customer’s Wife: (Starts sobbing on her husband’s shoulder).
Customer’s Daughter: Can I give you a hug?
(I happily give her a hug through my tears and still to this day knowing that I was able to save one family from those terrible attacks warms my heart.)

Two women, one middle-aged and one older, were at our hotel for 3 days. They greeted me every day and had polite conversation with me. On the fourth day, they stopped by the desk and stated that they could feel Jesus all around me. So cool, I felt like the man, I got Jesus all around me right? Well that didn’t last long. They returned from the room stating their cards didn’t work and it was a sign from god that they weren’t supposed to return to the room and that they knew that if they entered the room, they’d find a “bloody dead body on the bed.” Their exact words.
So, we were completely sold out so I couldn’t move them anywhere, and they’re so freaked out that I’m starting to believe this s**t too. So, I left my coworker at the desk to go exercise the room for these women and spritz some holy water on the carpet. They had me pray with them in a circle before entering the room, and we found absolutely nothing wrong with the room. Thinking they were cool I returned to the desk only to see them coming down the hallway.
The moment I left, they changed their minds and packed all their s**t, and were willing to sleep on the street, but I could have the fu**ing pope go to that room with them, they weren’t going back to the room.
So I did some searching and had an out of order room taken care of and put them in there so they wouldn’t have to leave.
So we have a possessed hotel.

Me: (cashing out) Hi, How was everything?
Older man: everything was good
Me: I’m happy to hear that
Older man: Wow, you don’t sound like a immigrant at all.
(I’m Asian)
Me: (in shock) why would you even say that? I was born here not every Asian person that you see is born from another place
Older man: (just stares) and walks away

(It’s a fairly slow night after a very busy weekend. The only thing really busy are the phones, mostly from people who have checked out the night previous and have some issue to resolve. Then this call pops up)
Me: Thank you for calling [Hotel], this is [Name] speaking, how can I help you?
Guest: Yeah… I checked out of your hotel yesterday, and I think I was double charged.
Me: Oh! Well let me pull up your reservation…
(The reservation in question was a two night stay)
Me: What is the amount you’re seeing charged to your card?
Guest: It is [Amount], but then I have this second receipt for [Lower Amount].
Me: Hm. Well I see that we charged you for [Amount] but I have no record of [Lower amount] being charged…
Guest: Well I have one receipt here that I got on Thursday for [Lower Amount], and then when they checked me out on Friday I got a receipt for [Higher Amount].
Me: *starting to catch on* Oh…. sir, are you seeing the charge for [Lower Amount] on your credit card statement?
Guest: I’m just looking at these receipts.
Me: Let me see… *adding up room and tax for his first night only on a calculator* Yes, that’s what I thought. [Lower Amount] is the price for just the first night of your stay, and [Amount] is for both days. If you look at the receipt for [Lower Amount] you’ll see it wasn’t actually charged, it was just the total at that point of your stay.
Guest: But it says that it would be settled to my card.
Me: And it was – as part of [Amount]. You were only charged [Amount] for your stay.
Guest: But it says I’ll be charged [Lower Amount].
Me: … you were. As part of [Amount]. *doesn’t know how to word this any more simply*
Guest: But I have a receipt for [Lower Amount].
Me: Yes, that was an earlier receipt for your total at that point in your stay and was not charged yet. Not until you checked out, when both nights were charged at once for a total of [Amount].
Guest: *clearly unconvinced* … well, I’ll have to keep an eye on it just in case.
Me: You do that, sir.

(it was a week before school started again, and this would be my first year at the school, so i was walking around it. as i was walking through one of the halls, some girls were messing around.)
girl #1: *nudges girl #2 and makes here drop here iphone* (iphone 6, i think)
girl #2: “careful, that an $800 phone, and i just got it.” she says as she picks it up
(i don’t get why people would pay that much for a phone.)
