My oldest daughter was just starting college and worked at a large local restaurant in a busy shopping center. She was tall and very good looking. Unfortunately, the young manager had made a few remarks that made her uncomfortable. One day I worked late so I stopped to get a coffee and see how she was doing. When I drove up there was a large tandem axle tow truck in the parking lot. I went inside and a huge man was sitting at the counter with a jacket that had the logo of the towing company on it. My daughter waited on me and I asked her how it was going with the manager. She said he was very quiet tonight. The big guy next to me leans over:
Big guy in a deep voice: ” Excuse me, I don’t mean to intrude, but has **** been bothering your daughter?”.
Me: “Well he made some remarks that made her uncomfortable and I was just checking up on her”.
Big guy: “My wife works here too and he was bothering her. I talked to him a little while ago and told him what I would do if he didn’t stop”.
He made some graphic remarks about exactly what he would do…..
Me: “Seems to be working. Thanks.”.

The manager quit soon after.

(I am with my fiancee going to pay for our merchandise after everything has been rung up. The cashier cannot easily see my card.)
Cashier: Credit or debit?
Me: Debit (gets ready to swipe card once cashier tells me I can.)
Cashier: You need to insert your card.
Me: No I don’t, it–.
Cashier: Yes, you NEED to insert your card.
Me: No, I DON’T (swipes card)
Cashier: YES- oh. Have a nice day.
(I had been trying to say that my card doesn’t have a chip, but the cashier had cut me off. I get that cards without a chip are rare, and that people are dumb, but I know how my card works. On top of that, ever since this, even months later, I worry every time I go to swipe my card I’m going to get yelled at by my cashier again.)

I work at a retail grocery store, at the hot counter and there is a young couple standing in front of the counter making out.

Me: Can I help you guys with something?

Guy: yes, do you have a room we can use?

PATIENT: ‘I’m looking for my old reports. Like years ago.’

ME: ‘Sure. I can help you

(I get patient details, confirmed name and date of birth twice. Two options come up. Only one shares the same first name, but different last name.)

ME: ‘Hmm. Did you used to go by a different name? Maiden name? Married name?’

PATIENT: ‘No. No.’

ME: ‘Are you sure it was with *medical clinic*?’

PATIENT: ‘I’m pretty sure. I spoke to the doctor…’

(Patient starts talking about a discussion she had with a doctor that won’t help me. So I tune out.)

ME: ‘Sorry. I only have a *first patient name* and *second patient name that shares the same first name*’

(I regret this immediately. I think saying these patient names is a breech of privacy.)

PATIENT: ‘*last name and same first name* was my last name years and years ago.’

ME: ‘Ah lovely. That’s why I asked you about your name earlier.’ said through gritted teeth and anxious laughter.

(Listen please. Answer truthfully. Every question asked helps with the process. Everything I say and do at work is to help you.)

I used to work at a pretty well know fast food place that has a mascot of a star amd was associated with a jr.
I worked in the front of house and dealt with the customers that were dine- in. We were located on the toll road so we could get prstty busy.
I was working on a pretty slow afternoon. We had a gentleman come in and his first language was obviously not english even though he spoke it well he had a thick accent. Arabic i belive. I took his order as normal. He came back up and said he got the wrong sandwich and just wanted a different one. So i told him i could do that for him. He tried to pay for it but i refused since it was my mistake. My general manager came up and said he would have them make the sandwich. The customer threw the sandwich away. My gm told me not to do that because if he wanted to pay for another sandwhich he could. I didn’t like it so i ignored that. The customer finished his meal. I threw away his trash and wished him a happy day. He left to go to the gas station which is on the other side of us. He came back and gave me a redbull. I tried to protest but he just walked off. I left that job a month later due to change in gm. Thank you man where ever you are!
