Underperforming In Underwear

| Learning | June 8, 2016

(I am the principal of a private school. Once a month, the school has a “no dress code day” meaning that the students are allowed to wear whatever they want. One of these days, I am in my office and get a call from a teacher who has just sent a student to my office for violating the barely existent dress code. The student comes into the office.)

Me: “I’m a little confused. What happened?”

Student: “I forgot today was a no dress code day and came to school in my uniform.”

Me: “Really, is that it? Explain everything that happened.”

Student: “I came to school late today and when I got to my class, I saw that no one else was wearing a uniform. I thought I looked stupid so I took my uniform off.”

(In disbelief, I called the student’s teacher. The student did in fact take his clothes off in class and attempted to sit through the whole lesson almost naked.)

Me: “You still violated the dress code.”

Student: “That’s impossible! You said that today we could wear whatever we want.”

Me: “I did say that, but you still have to WEAR SOMETHING. I will give you a choice. You can either wear your uniform, go home and don’t come back, or borrow some clothes from the drama club’s prop room.”

(He chose the last option. I knew there were normal clothes in that room but the student spent the rest of the day dressed as The Wicked Witch of the West.)
