Unable To Sleep On The Decision

(My (now-ex) boyfriend and I have just had “the breakup talk,” after over a year of dating. He brought it up, but deep down I also know it’s not working. However, I have no easy way of getting home, so I decide to stay a last night at his apartment before we go our separate ways. We are about to go to sleep.)

Ex: “Well, good night.”

Me: *sniffing a little* “Good night.”

(Several minutes of silence, but clearly neither of us is falling asleep.)

Me: “[Ex]?”

Ex: “Yeah? What is it?”

Me: “This has always been a s***ty-a** bed.”

Ex: “Yeah, I know.”
