Uhh… At Least He Didn’t Complain That It Was Cold?

, , , | Right | June 23, 2022

I work at a pizza restaurant. At 7:30, I take an order for a half-pepperoni pizza. I make the pizza, and it’s done by 7:45. The pizza is still sitting there at 9:45 when we’re about to close. I call the customer and he comes to pick up the pizza twelve minutes after closing.

I shut everything down and do the cash-out, and I’m almost done with all of my closing stuff. It’s now an hour after close, and the customer comes banging on the door. I speak to him through the door.

Customer: “You made this pizza wrong! It wasn’t supposed to have pepperoni! I want new food!”

Me: “The ovens have been off for an hour and they are cold. They’ll take an hour to heat back up.”

Customer: “Fine! Then I want a refund.”

Me: “I’ve already dropped all our money into the safe, which is on a timer and can’t be opened again until tomorrow morning. Come back tomorrow and I’ll gladly give you a pizza or your money back, but I can’t do anything about it now.”

He started screaming, banging on the door, and threatening me. At one point, he called the cops, but whoever he spoke to said it wasn’t worth their time. He stayed out there until 1:00 am. I didn’t leave until thirty minutes after that.
