Turning It Into A Soap Opera

(I walk past the bathroom to see my nearly-four-year-old climbing on the sink to turn on the faucet. She sees me in the mirror.)

Daughter: “I’m going to wash my hands by myself!”

Me: *so proud* “Okay!”

(I get into the next room and it’s not been five seconds.)

Daughter: “DADDY! I NEED YOU TO PUMP THE SOAP!”
