Trying To Explain This Is Draining My Battery
I see a car pull up to one of the pumps. This happens hundreds of times every day, but this one stands out to me because the car is electric. I see an older gentleman get out of the car, select a gas nozzle, and start looking around the car for the fuel cap.
After chuckling a moment and letting this go on for a moment longer than I should have, I step outside to help. He sees me walking over and throws his hands up in defeat.
Customer: “I can’t find the d*** gas cap. Where the h*** does the gas go in this thing? It’s my son’s car and he didn’t warn me it would be so hard to find!”
Me: “Looks like your son drives a Tesla, sir. It’s electric.”
Customer: “Electric?”
Me: “That’s right, sir.”
Customer: “Why didn’t he tell me?!”
Me: “He probably assumed you’d realize the car has no engine noise and a charger port instead of a fuel tank.”
Customer: “So… how do I put gas in?”
Me: “You… don’t, sir. You charge it. It runs on a battery.”
Customer: “Wait, so I just charge the batteries?!”
Me: “Yup!”
Customer: “Does it take double-A’s?”
Pause.
Me: “Sir, does your son know you’re driving his car?”
