Trash Talking Via The Trash

| Related | January 20, 2016

(My parents have been separated for two years, but their divorce isn’t official yet, and they are currently in the process of legally dividing their assets. My mom knocks on my door.)

Mom: “[My Name], I need your trash!”

Me: “It’s Tuesday; trash night is tomorrow.”

(My mom comes in my room and begins to empty my trash can into a large garbage bag.)

Mom: “I know, but I’m teaching you to take out the trash when you realize it doesn’t feel right to have it, rather than keeping it because you feel like you need to, and then getting rid of it later at what people think is the right time, when it actually is too late.”

Me: “Dad asked for more money?”

Mom: “Yup!”
