Transitioning To Other Lanes

At the local supermarket, I had a favourite cashier. She was bright, bubbly, personable, and remembered who we were and always had a chat. One day, she mentioned that some older men would get in her lane, see who was working, and just change lanes.

Me: “What’s wrong with a young girl touching your groceries?”

And that, my friends, is when I found out my favourite cashier is trans. It never even occurred to me, and didn’t change anything.

But we made sure to stop by the service desk on the way out and tell the manager what an amazing job she does.
