(I am subbing for social studies. We just watched a movie on the pyramids, and have transitioned into a study period. A couple of kids are getting loud.)
Me: “What’s going on?”
Student #1: “Isn’t Egypt a state?”
Me: “…you mean, part of the United States?”
Student #1: “Yeah!”
Me: “Uhm, no, it’s in—”
Student #2: “South Africa!”
Me: “Well, yes, Africa, but not south…”
Student #3: “Yeah, it’s kind of by Brazil, isn’t it?”
Me: “…”
