Total Eclipse Of The Brain, Part 7

, , , , , | Right | September 27, 2025

It’s a few hours after the April 8, 2024, solar eclipse in the USA. This was also the day I heard the dumbest thing I have ever heard, and probably will ever hear:

Customer: *While I am scanning their items.* “I don’t see what all the fuss is about. It didn’t even happen the way they said it would.”

Me: “I mean, it kinda did? The moon blocked the sun completely.”

Customer: “I couldn’t see the moon! They kept saying it was the moon blocking the sun, but when it happened, I looked up and couldn’t see the moon! The sun just got a bit darker is all!”

Me: “The moon is what caused the sun to seem darker. It blocked the sun.”

Customer: “But the moon is shiny and bright! It was all totally dark, no moon, so it didn’t happen the way they said it would. This is why you shouldn’t trust scientists.”

Me: “I promise you, it was the moon.”

Customer: “The moon only comes out at night anyway. The moon is so much better than the sun, because it’s up there at night, giving us some light when we need it. The sun is so useless; it’s up there in the daytime when it’s already bright.”

Me: “Wow… you really don’t trust scientists, do you?”
