Total Eclipse Of The Brain, Part 11
The April 8, 2024, solar eclipse has just come and gone. The employees in our store went outside to enjoy it, and we’re now back at work, following the news about the eclipse continuing across the country as it finishes its path.
Customer: “Wait, did they say that right on the news?”
Me: “What do you mean?”
Customer: “They gonna get the eclipse over in Scotland?”
Me: “They’re going to get a partial eclipse near the end of the path, yeah.”
Customer: “But how?!”
Me: “What do you mean?”
Customer: “It’s America’s moon! We landed on it! Why do other countries get to see it?”
Me: “I… uh… okay?”
I finish their transaction, having neither the time nor the energy to explain to this person what the moon is. After the customer leaves:
Coworker: “Ugh… It was easier when the idiots thought the moon landing was faked.”
