Three Is The Magic Number

(Only my dorm roommate and I are placed in a three-bedroom, without a third roommate. We decide to invent a fictional third roommate, complete with a detailed back-story and excuses as to why he is never around. We hang clothes in ‘his’ closet, make and unmake his bed, and talk about him as if he is real. We fool many people on the hall, but by December have kind of tired of it, so I admit the joke to a good friend:)

Me: “…so all this time we’ve been pretending to have a third roommate.”

Friend: *very puzzled look*

Me: “[Fake Roommate] is not real. We made him up.”

Friend: “…Didn’t I meet him?”
