This Party Just Died

(It’s our first anniversary. My boyfriend takes me to a cafe for breakfast. While we’re waiting for our food, I notice a man walk past with a large bunch of flowers.)

Me: “Aw, maybe it’s someone else’s anniversary too.”

Boyfriend: “No! I made sure only we had our anniversary today. Others are having their widowed anniversaries.”

(He grins and picks up his knife.)

Me: “How… sweet?”
