This Is Why We’re In A Recession, Part 66
(I work in a farm supply store where we sell dog food, tractor parts, gun safes, and a whole bunch of other stuff. I have just helped an older woman with deciding she wants one of our limited camouflage gun safes and we put it on layaway. I escort her to the counter so I can get the receipt to put on one of the safes in our storage area. This happens as she checks out:)
Customer: *hands coworker her card* “Oh, and make sure it’s rung up as debit, please.”
Me: “Ma’am, if it’s a debit card, you’ll have to slide it down at this machine at the end of the register so you can put your pin in.”
Customer: “Why should I do that? I never put my pin in anywhere and it always gets run as debit. Everyone is a bunch of thieves…”
(I simply smile and tell her how to run her card as credit and finish her layaway. She left, happy as a lark, while I sighed in confusion to how she goes with her day-to-day life in such naivety.)
