This Is Mathematically Unsound

| Learning | February 1, 2017

(I am away at college when I receive a call from my younger sister who has just started her high-school sophomore year.)

Sister: “You’re not going to believe this, [My Name], but we don’t have an Algebra II teacher.”

Me: “Your Honors class was cancelled?”

Sister: “No, we LITERALLY have NO teacher for Algebra II.”

Me: “WHAT?”

Sister: “Yup, so for my whole third period my we just sit in an empty classroom trying to do some worksheets. The Pre-Calculus teacher down the hall said she would try to help us when she has time during her planning period.”

Me: “So your class just sits in that room WITHOUT a teacher, are given worksheets to do, and are still graded on it?”

Sister: “Yup.”

Me: “Please tell me you don’t still have to take the end-of-course test?”

Sister: “We do… Can you or [Older Sister] help me?”
