This Customer Is A Barrage Of Hot Air, Part 2

It’s mid-morning in July. An older lady comes into the bakery with some friends, orders food, and sits there for a while. I am currently helping out another customer. The lady at the table starts to wave her arms frantically and yell.

Customer: “AIR, AIR, AIR!”

Me: “I’m sorry, is there something wrong?”

Customer: “Turn on the air conditioning! It’s so hot in here; I can’t breathe!”

Me: “I’m sorry about that. Unfortunately, our air system is set to automatic and I don’t have access to it.”

Customer: “Well, can you at least keep the door open?”

It’s at least ninety degrees outside and maybe seventy-five inside.

Me: “I’m not sure if that will help much, and I can’t because flies would come into the store.”

Customer: *Grumbles* “That’s why you need a screen on the door.”

I apologized again and moved away to help another customer. She stayed for another hour and ordered more food, and of course, instead of waiting in line via our number system, she knocked on the glass of the pastry case loudly, expecting us to drop our other customers and immediately help her, I guess? If you ever need a server to help you out at a restaurant, I can assure you that yelling, waving your arms, and banging on glass are not the moves.
