(My girlfriend and I are hanging out between lectures. I’m reading a magazine while she is checking her emails, only to discover her lecture has been rescheduled to an awkward time.)
Girlfriend: “D*** it! I hate everything!”
Me: *indignantly* “Hey, I’m a thing!”
(A few minutes later, upon receiving more bad news.)
Girlfriend: “Ah, screw everything!”
Me: *smiling* “…I’m a thing.”
