They’re Not Eye Drops
(I work in a discount makeup store and a woman asks me to help her find an eyeshadow.)
Customer: “I don’t like [Brand]’s powder eyeshadows; they’re not made very well.”
Me: “I’m sorry to hear that. A lot of other customers really like their products. What is it about their eyeshadows that you don’t like?”
Customer: “Well, when I drop them, the powder breaks.”
Me: *stunned silence*
Customer: “Do you have any other lines that sell powder eyeshadows?”
Me: “Of course. [Other Brand] sells high-quality eyeshadows and is very popular. They’re over here.”
Customer: “Okay, I like these colors. Are these well-made?”
Me: “Yes, they are. They are a little expensive, but that’s because of how high-quality they are.”
Customer: “So, if I drop them, the powder won’t break?”
Me: “Any eyeshadow is going to break if you drop it. I suggest you try not to drop your eyeshadows.”
