They Lost The Game Of Thrones
I used to work for a construction company as an office assistant. Our job trailer had two single-occupancy bathrooms. The site manager purchased two “All Gender Bathroom” signs and posted them. Anyone can come in and use these bathrooms instead of the porta-potties outside because no matter how often they were cleaned, they were *always* gross. If you’ve ever experienced a California summer, you know why. One of our subcontractor leads came in for the morning meeting, saw the signs, and lost his mind.
Lead: “What the f*** is that? All gender? What is that about?”
Site Manager: *Calmly.* “It means anyone can use either bathroom.”
Lead: “No, it means you’re encouraging he-she’s and she-he’s and all that bull-s***!”
Site Manager: “No.”
Lead: “You need to change those signs now.”
Site Manager: *Firmly.* “I will not entertain this conversation anymore. Let’s get started.”
[Lead] stewed in his anger for the entire meeting. Our company went to lunch together and came back to find that both bathrooms had been ransacked. An entire roll of toilet paper had been unraveled and left in each toilet, tossed the individual paper towels all over the soap-covered floor, put more soap in the water tank, and smashed the light bulbs.
[Site Manager] took the signs down and put two new signs up before cleaning both bathrooms. The next morning, [Lead] came in looking smug, but his face quickly fell. The new signs said “[COMPANY] EMPLOYEES ONLY.”
Lead: “What the f*** is that?”
Site Manager: “Someone trashed our bathrooms. My entire team was at lunch at [Restaurant], so I know it wasn’t them. Since I can’t expect the person to come clean, my only option is to restrict usage to the people I know didn’t do it.”
Lead: “You know that means everyone else has to use the porta-potties?”
Site Manager: “I do.”
Lead: “And they’re always disgusting.”
Site Manager: “They are.”
Lead: “I’m not—” *He jerks the bathroom door, but it is locked.* “Really?”
Site Manager: *Holding up the keys.* “This is my site, and unless someone is willing to confess to the mess, the new signs will stay.”
Everyone knew [Lead] did it, but he never admitted it, so he had to use the nasty porta-potties the rest of the project.
