They Age So Fast, Ink And You’ll Miss Them

(It’s my sister’s 18th birthday. She’s over two hours late from school.)

Sister: “I’m home, Mom!”

Mom: “There you are! Go wash up, dinner’s almost done then we’ll have cake and open presents.”

Sister: “Okay, but first…”

(Without another word, she lifts up the edge of her shirt to reveal a tattoo running up her side.)

Sister: “What do you think?”

Mom: “Holy s***! What is your father going to say?”

Sister: “Daddy said he was okay with it as long as it wasn’t trashy.”

Mom: “Your father did not say okay to his 16 year old daughter getting a tattoo!”

Sister: “Mom, I’m 18.”

Mom: *stops to think for a minute* “D***, I’d better go add two candles to the cake. Cute tattoo, by the way.”

Sister: *to me* “What the…”

Me: “She did the same thing to me when I had a drink on my 21st birthday.”
