There’s Just A Teeny Zucchini Problem With That Squash…
I’m a cashier and am pretty new, so I still need to look up produce codes. I’m checking a lady out and she’s buying a zucchini. I am looking up the code for it, mumbling “zucchini” to myself as I do.
Customer: “Um, sorry, ma’am, that is a yellow squash.”
Me: “This?”
I hold up said zucchini.
Customer: “Yes, that is a yellow squash!”
Me: “Umm, I’m pretty sure this is a zucchini?”
Customer: “Uh, no, I found it in the yellow squash bin next to the zucchini!”
Me: “Is it possible they got mixed up?”
Customer: “No.”
Me: “Well… I’m pretty sure that yellow squash… are yellow?”
Customer: “Oh! That makes so much more sense. I thought it would be yellow on the inside!”
Me: “Oookay.”
She ended up buying the zucchini! I guess she didn’t know what they were and didn’t care?
