There’s A Brain That’s Starved Of Oxygen Here And It’s Not Mine
My friend and I are watching ‘Dune’ at the movie theater.
Friend: “I don’t get it. The entire planet is a desert?”
Me: “That’s right.”
Friend: “So how do they breathe? Where does all the air come from if there are no trees?”
Me: “So the movie has mountain-sized worms, a spice that makes people create wormholes in space-time, and an ancient sect of psycho-nuns who can control people with a word, but that’s what you’re hung up on?”
Friend: “But trees make air! No trees, no air!”
Me: “So how can people breathe in the Sahara?”
Friend: “Every time I see videos of people in the desert, they’re wearing breathing masks.”
Me: “Those are just covers to keep the sand out, [Friend]! They’re still breathing the air!”
Friend: “…oh.”
Me: “What about people on cruises in the middle of the ocean? How are they breathing?”
Friend: “I… thought they brought their own air with them.”
