Their Point Is Redundant, Part 2

| Working | January 4, 2014

(I’m standing outside having a smoke. A coworker of several years walks up and lights up.)

Coworker: “Hey. How you doing?”

Me: “Yeah. Been better.”

Coworker: “Oh, it’s not that bad. You’ve been such a misery lately.”

Me: “Well, I—”

Coworker: “Cheer up, man. It’s not that bad!”

Me: “You’re probably right.”

(I finish my smoke and walk away. Instead of heading into the building I walk past the doors and to the exit.)

Coworker: “Hey! Where are you going?”

Me: “I’m being made redundant.”

Coworker: “Since when?”

Me: “Oh, about 15 minutes ago. Catch you around…”
