(Our phones have an earpiece as well as a horn. One of my colleagues (Colleague #1) keeps hearing a beep tone and asks for help.)

Colleague #1: “I keep hearing this beeping noise.”

Colleague #2: “You’re just losing your mind.”

Me: *checks* “The battery for your earpiece is almost empty. Just let it charge and you won’t hear the noise anymore.”

Colleague #1: *continues working, gets a phone call, then starts laughing* “I was talking into my earpiece, but the voice was coming from the horn of my phone!”

Colleague #2: “See, you really are losing your mind! First you heard that beeping, now you hear voices.”

Colleague #1: “Actually, I DIDN’T hear the voices I wanted to hear!”

Me: “Better like that than hearing voices you don’t want to hear.”

(Colleague #1 later gets a phone call. I hear him saying “hello?” and then hanging up.)

Me: “No voices this time?”
