The Topping Point Is Surprisingly Low
I’m waiting to collect a pizza from a pizza chain. You can order on their website or app, which is what I have done, and apparently, so has another customer who just walked in.
Customer: “I need you to explain to me why I didn’t get the two-toppings for $9.99 deal on this pizza I just ordered!”
Employee: “That is a three-meat pizza, ma’am.”
Customer: “I know what I ordered! Why didn’t I get the two-toppings for $9.99 deal on it!?”
I see this poor employee racking his brain for the best response while not sounding like a smart-a**.
Employee: “Well, you see ma’am, the three-meat pizza contains three toppings, and therefore the price will be higher than the sale advertised on a two-topping pizza.”
Customer: “Soooo, what do I have to do to get a pizza for $9.99?!”
Employee: *Deep breath.* “You’ll have to order a pizza with two toppings only.”
Customer: “Well, I don’t see how that makes any sense!”
Employee: “Out of the three meats on your pizza, which do you like the least?”
Customer: “The beef.”
Employee: “If I take the beef off, your pizza will be $9.99.”
Customer: “Okay, fine, but I still don’t get it!”
The customer walks outside to smoke and browse on her phone. The employee and I lock eyes.
Me: “No, what truly doesn’t make any sense is how you were able to stay so composed during that. I was about to stick three fingers in her face and shout that three is more than two!”
Employee: “Please don’t tempt me. I still need to talk to her one more time!”
Around then, my pizza was ready. I collected it, wished the employee good luck, and enjoyed my pizza knowing that in the future, no matter how stupid I might feel, I would never be as stupid as some people…
