The Time To Be Honey-Mouthed Is Over
Customer: “Excuse me, which of these flowers can produce honey?”
Me: “Do you mean which ones will bees pollinate? Pretty much all of the flowers here on display.”
Customer: “No, I don’t want to attract any bees, I just want flowers that make honey.”
Me: “Well, the flowers don’t make the honey. The bees collect nectar from the flowers and use that as a resource to create honey in their hives.”
Customer: “No, you’re mistaken. I see it on TV all the time, like with those birds with the super-fast wings drinking the honey from flowers.”
Me: “If you mean hummingbirds, then yes they do kinda drink from flowers, but it’s the nectar from the flowers they’re getting at. It’s not honey.”
Customer: “Well can you get me someone else to help me? No offense, but I don’t think you know what you’re talking about. And bees are gross.”
I get my manager for her and explain the situation.
Manager: “Imagine how gross she’s gonna feel when I tell her that honey is bee vomit!”
