(I have just moved across the country to Oregon. It’s been four days. Someone asks me about the move.)
Stranger: “So, where did you move from?”
Me: “Florida. I was there for two years and hated it so I decided to move across the country for no real reason. I’m from New England originally.”
Stranger: “New England?! That’s so cool! How long have you been in the states?”
Me: *internal facepalm* “…My whole life. I’m from Massachusetts.”
Stranger: “Oh!”
