The Real Emergency Is Keeping The Broccoli Fresh

I’m a firefighter at a scene of a house fire. Due to the locations of fire trucks and fire hydrants, we have had to close a street as we had hoses over the road and trucks left, right, and centre. But there is another street that goes around for residents to get through. A member of the public approaches me.

Public: “Can you move the trucks and hoses off the road? I need to get through. I’ve got groceries in the car, I can see my house from here.”

Me: “Umm…” *Turns around and looks at the house still on fire.*

The firefighter in charge of the scene steps in and talks to the member of the public. 

Seriously. Someone has just lost their house. Either drive around or carry your shopping from your car.
