The Price Of Parenting
(My eight-year-old son is a little under the weather this morning, so I decide to take him to my office instead of sending him to school.)
Son: “I don’t want to go to your work. I want to go to school.”
Me: “Come on. You’ll get to play on my phone all day.”
Son: “Okay.”
Me: *jokingly* “Everyone’s got a price.”
(My teenage daughter, who is getting ready for school at the same time, pipes up.)
Daughter: “What’s mine?”
Me: “Junk food from 7-11.”
Daughter: “Oh, yeah. I don’t know why I even asked that.”
