The Power Of Ctrl+S

(It’s the week before finals. It’s a windy December night, and I’m studying in my room. My building is only a short distance away from the library. Without warning, the wind knocks the power out. Less than 30 seconds later, the power comes back on again. My roommate and I suddenly hear the faint sound of screaming.)

Roommate: “The f*** is that?”

Me: *looking out the window* “Guess it was a school-wide power outage. What you’re hearing is everyone who’s computer shut down and lost their paper.”

Roommate: “Wow, seriously?”

Me: “And that is why they tell you to save your work every few minutes.”
