The Paw-Ster Campaign That Ended Well

I unfortunately had to make and print a bunch of missing posters, as our family cat somehow got outside overnight and disappeared. She’s an indoor cat, so we were extremely stressed and worried about her being out in an unfamiliar environment on her own. To add to the stress, our printer chose that exact time to choose *not* to print, so I had to make the trip to our local printing place.

Me: “Hi, can I have about thirty copies of this document, please?”

Employee: “No problem. Black and white or colour?”

Me: “Colour. They’re, uh. Missing posters. Our cat vanished, and we’re trying to find her. She’s chipped, so if someone finds her and turns her in, we’ll know, but we’re trying to do everything we can.”

Employee: “Of course. And I’m sorry to hear that. I hope you find her.”

Me: “Thanks.”

They print the posters, and when they’re done, hand them to me.

Employee: “Just take them.”

Me: “I… sorry, what?”

Employee: “Please take them. Free of charge.”

Me: “Are you sure?”

Employee: “100%. I really hope you find her.”

I accept the posters and leave, thanking them profusely. On the way home, I rang my partner and basically sobbed at them while I told them about the employee’s kindness. To the employee: thank you so much, your compassion made such a difference during a very stressful time.

And this story has a happy ending. Our cat came back home by herself the day after!
